The Shriners Hospitals for Children
has been a leader in pediatric
orthopedic care since 1922. They
have helped over a million children
including the Plier family from Port
Washington, Wisconsin. During the
past few years, two of their three
children have received outstanding
medical care from some of the
world’s top orthopedic surgeons and
physicians. What most people don’t
realize is this expert care is
provided at little to no cost. By
relieving the financial burden that
often accompanies extensive medical
treatment, the Plier family was able
to focus on what was most important,
the health and well being of their
children. This is why the Plier
family is so grateful for their
support. In addition to financial
assistance, the outstanding team of
doctors and nurses at the Shriners
Hospital of Chicago provided them
with unwavering emotional support
and optimism. As a result, their
family has triumphed over a very
difficult period in their lives and
is pleased to report that their
children Bryce (age 6) and Sharla
(age 4) are healthy and vibrant.
Their son Bryce was born with club
feet and had corrective surgery in
2008. Their daughter Sharla became
a double leg amputee at the tender
age of 1 and was proudly walking
with prosthetics after only a few
months of physical therapy. She may
be little, but she is mighty in
spirit and determination. And of
course, Eliana (age 10) is proud to
be their big sister. Because the
Plier family has so much to be
thankful for, they want to share
their blessings and give back to
those who have given them so much.
By raising money and awareness for
the Shriners Hospitals for Children,
they hope to make a positive impact
on the lives of other children and
their families. With love and
support, they believe anything is
possible! |
